Recently some trials have been conducted using the remote station on digital modes and a report on the trials in PSK, RTTY and JT65 has been published. This is a set up and operating guide to operating digital modes on the remote, and it can be used as basis for further trials using other AFSK data modes.

The Register of Radiocommunications Licences (RRL) has not been accurately showing some licences as current after a renewal or new licence payment. The St George Amateur Radio Society annual 80 metre contest will be held this Saturday evening, 30th July 2016 from 6 PM to Midnight local time. This is a friendly contest for all licence holders, using phone (voice) CW or digital, in six blocks of one hour each.
Power levels and emission modes as per your individual licence class. Points allocated on distance basis. Additional points available for contacts by and with foundation licence holders. Seven different awards available for those who submit a contest log.
No multi or assisted operators permitted. Contestants can operate from home, portable or mobile. Logs can be either electronic ADIF or paper. While this contest is not in the list, VK CL can be used in the personal log mode.

Waverley Amateur Radio Society was recently awarded new achievements in operating. The gained the Worked All VK Call Areas Award – HF in Open and Phone categories, and the International Amateur Radio Union Worked All Continents Awards in the Open and Phone Categories.
The Mid South Coast Amateur Radio Club’s newsletter, Lyrebird, was recently published with a mention of their club’s involvement in the 2016 Ferry Contest.
Ferry-Contest-Pages-from-Lyrebird-2016Connor Edwards (VK2FCAC) attended the Waverley Club regular Project Day on Saturday 5th May in order to receive his Ferry Contest check-in award.
Laurie Gordon (VK2GZ), contest manager, presented the award consisting of a certificate and one of the club’s Power Pole kits.
Next year’s Ferry Contest will be held on Sunday 12th March. Further details will be posted to the website closer to the event.
